It is Ann Arbor’s great thrift sale. Everything from antiques and furniture to clothing, electronics, crafts, and jewelry, plus an excellent inventory of books and music. Big selections of housewares, dishes, garden tools, and sporting goods. Free parking and handicapped accessible. The Kiwanis Thrift Sale is staffed by Kiwanis members and volunteers.

The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor began raising money through an annual rummage thrift sale in 1927. Proceeds from the sale are returned to the community through grants, scholarships, and gifts. In the early years the Kiwanis rummage sales were held mostly at the National Guard Armory in downtown Ann Arbor several times each year until 1968. Over the years the rummage sale name changed to the Kiwanis Thrift Sale. In 1966 our club bought a building located at the corner of First and William Streets for club activities and the Kiwanis Thrift Sale. In 1990 the Kiwanis Thrift Sale started weekly sale hours on each Saturday 9 to noon. Starting in 2000, we were provided temporary use of two different warehouses in south Ann Arbor to support the growing Kiwanis Thrift Sale. After 50 years downtown Ann Arbor our Kiwanis Thrift Sale needed a larger building and we purchased the current building and property on North Staebler Road in 2014.

In 2017 the Kiwanis downtown Ann Arbor building was sold, and as of January 2019 all Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor activities and its weekly Kiwanis Thrift Sale and warehouse storage moved to its current much larger location at 100 N. Staebler Road at the corner of W. Jackson Road, Ann Arbor. The Kiwanis Thrift Sale at the new Kiwanis Center building is open weekly Fridays and Saturdays 9:00 am -1:00 pm (except holidays) for sales to the public and for drop off of donations from the public, at 100 North Staebler Road, Suite C, Ann Arbor MI 48103. (One mile west of Zeeb Road and one mile east of Baker Road.) (see maps).

The Kiwanis Center building is owned by the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. The Kiwanis Thrift Sale is the major on-going fundraising activity of the Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation, Inc. and donations to the Kiwanis Thrift Sale may be tax deductible.

Proceeds from our thrift sale support over 80 local non-profits who provide services to children and families. For more information about our grants, scholarships, gifts, and services to the community, please read our annual “Community Impact Report
